The riq or sometimes called daff is a small jingled tambourine from the middle east that has 5 double rows of jingles and played with the hands. It is the core instrument in classical ensembles. It is played in a variety of positions depending on the setting. The playing uses drum head strokes, jingle playing and shaking patterns.
